In the post-processing stage of 3D printing, removing sprues is a critical and challenging task. The introduction of the 40K ultrasonic handheld cutting tool has provided an efficient and precise solution to this problem.
When faced with sprues of various shapes on 3D-printed models, this cutting tool demonstrates exceptional performance. Its operating principle is based on high-frequency vibrations of up to 40,000 times per second. These vibrations cause the cutting tool's blade to rapidly friction against the sprue area, generating localized high temperatures that soften the sprue material in a short time, even bringing it close to a molten state. During operation, the user simply needs to gently position the cutting tool's blade near the gate without applying excessive pressure. The tool's high-frequency vibrations alone are sufficient to effortlessly remove the gate.
This cutting method offers unparalleled advantages compared to traditional manual tool removal. When using traditional tools to remove water gates, the need for significant force to sever the material often leaves scratches, notches, or causes local deformation on the model surface, affecting the overall quality and aesthetics of the model. In the video, we used a regular tool to cut ABS material, but even with considerable force, it failed to achieve effective cutting. Our 40kHz ultrasonic handheld cutting tool (HS-C40) achieves gentle cutting through high-frequency vibration, causing virtually no damage to the model surface and perfectly preserving the model's details and smoothness. For example, when handling delicate 3D-printed models such as complex figurines or precision mechanical parts, this cutting tool can precisely remove gates while ensuring that every intricate texture and delicate structure on the model remains intact.
In terms of cutting efficiency, the 40K ultrasonic handheld cutting tool also performs exceptionally well. High-frequency vibrations make the cutting process as smooth as cutting butter, significantly reducing the time required to remove gates. What might have taken hours to complete using traditional tools can now be efficiently accomplished in just a few minutes or even less with this ultrasonic cutting tool, significantly improving work efficiency and saving valuable time costs for subsequent production processes in 3D printing.
Ultrasonic cutter, also known as ultrasonic cutting machines, are specialized ultrasonic devices designed for cutting purposes and represent one of the key applications of ultrasonic technology. The principle behind ultrasonic cutting differs significantly from traditional cutting methods. Ultrasonic cutting utilizes the energy from an ultrasonic transducer to locally heat and melt the material being cut, thereby achieving the cutting objective. Therefore, ultrasonic cutting does not require a sharp edge or significant pressure, and it does not cause chipping or damage to the material being cut. Additionally, since the cutting blade vibrates ultrasonically, friction resistance is extremely low, preventing the material from adhering to the blade. This makes ultrasonic cutting particularly effective for cutting adhesive and elastic materials, frozen materials such as food and rubber, or objects that cannot withstand pressure. Another major advantage of ultrasonic cutting is that it simultaneously performs a melting action at the cutting site, perfectly sealing the edges of the cut material and preventing fraying in textile materials. The applications of ultrasonic cutting blades can also be expanded to include hole drilling, scraping, paint removal, and engraving.
