How To Distinguish The Welding Method Of Ultrasonic Welding Machine?

When welding plastic products, the ultrasonic welding machine does not need to add any adhesive, filler or solvent, and does not consume a large amount of heat source. It has the advantages of simple operation, fast welding speed, high welding strength and high production efficiency. Therefore, ultrasonic welding technology is becoming more and more widely used.
A piece of plastic finished product may be made from a variety of materials or components. The components are combined and processed using mechanical fasteners, adhesives, and welding processes. Among the three joining methods, the welding process has the best effect, and the welding forms are various, and different welding processes can be used according to different materials, sizes, and uses. Both engineering plastics can be joined by mechanical fasteners, adhesives and soldering processes. Mechanical fasteners allow quick connection of the two components, but the seams are less leak-proof and localized stresses can also disengage the polymer material.
Welding method of ultrasonic welding machine: The welding principle of ultrasonic welding machine is to generate high-voltage and high-frequency signals from the generator, and transfer it to the plastic processing object by using the energy welding head (hom), and make the plastic through the friction between the surface of the workpiece and the intrinsic molecules. The contact surface generates high temperature, and the plastic joint surface is quickly dissolved and exchanged in an instant, and the fusion process is completed in one second. The adhesive can provide good characteristics and form a seam with excellent leakproof function. However, the adhesive treatment is more difficult. Large, slow curing speed. At the same time, joint preparation and surface cleanliness are required when bonding with adhesive.
Welding results in a bond-sturdy seam with mechanical properties close to the parent material. Plastic welding is limited to thermoplastic polymers because the thermoplastic material can be softened by heating. The thermosetting polymer cannot be softened by heating after hardening. Thermoplastic polymers require less heat to weld than metals.
Vibration welding
Vibration welding is also known as linear friction welding. The two thermoplastic parts rub against each other at the appropriate pressure, frequency and amplitude until sufficient heat is generated to melt the polymer. After the vibration is stopped, the components are aligned with each other and the molten polymer solidifies to form a weld. Vibration welding is similar to spin welding, except that the motion is a linear motion rather than a rotary motion. This welding method is very fast, the vibration frequency is generally 100 to 240 Hz, and the amplitude is 1 mm to 5 mm.
The main advantage of this welding process is the ability to weld large, complex linear components at high speeds. Other advantages include the ability to weld multiple parts at the same time, simple welding tools, and the ability to weld almost all thermoplastic materials including injection molded parts, extruded parts, blow molded parts, thermoformed parts, foamed parts and stamped parts, mainly used in automobiles and Household appliances industry.
Ultrasonic welding
The ultrasonic welding method forms a seam by mechanical high frequency vibration. The component to be assembled is pressed between the oscillating horn and the fixed horn, and then at right angles to the contact surface, and receives ultrasonic vibration at a frequency of 20 to 40 kHz. Alternating high frequency stress generates heat at the joint interface to form a high quality weld. The tools used in this process are very expensive and, therefore, suitable for use in large production volumes. This welding method is only suitable for small parts with a welding length not exceeding several centimeters. Applications include valves and screening procedures, cartridges, automotive parts, vacuum cleaner housings, etc. for welding medical equipment on multi-head machines.
Friction welding
Thermoplastic friction welding (also known as "spin welding") has the same principle as metal welding. In this welding process, one piece of the substrate is fixed and the other piece is rotated at a controlled angular velocity. When the parts are pressed together, the frictional heat causes the polymer to melt and form a weld upon cooling. The main welding parameters include: rotational speed, friction pressure, forging pressure, welding time and melting length.
Friction welding produces excellent weld quality, simple welding process and high repeatability. However, since the process of the ultrasonic welding machine is simple, it is only suitable for applications in which at least one component is circular and does not require angular alignment.
