Why can/can't an ordinary speaker be used as an ultrasonic transducer?

Why can/can't an ordinary speaker be used as an ultrasonic transducer?

Speakers are designed specifically to reproduce well some frequencies. For instance, woofers are designed to produce low frequency sounds, typically from around 40 Hz up to about a kHz, while tweeters are designed to produce high audio frequencies, typically from around 2 kHz to 20 kHz. Ultrasounds have much higher frequencies.
