Overview of Ultrasonic Transducers

The ultrasonic transducer part is mainly composed of three parts: transducer, amplifier (also known as secondary rod, booster), welding horn (also known as welding mold).

Transducer (TRANSDUCER): The function of the transducer is to convert electrical signals into mechanical vibration signals. There are two physical effects that can be applied to convert electrical signals into mechanical vibration signals. A: Magnetostrictive effect, B: Inverse effect of piezoelectric effect. The magnetostrictive effect was often used in early ultrasonic applications, and its advantages are that it has a large power capacity; Since the invention of the Langevin piezoelectric ceramic transducer, the application of the inverse effect of the piezoelectric effect has been widely adopted. Piezoelectric ceramic transducers have the advantages of high conversion efficiency and suitable for mass production, but the disadvantage is that the power capacity produced is relatively small. Existing ultrasonic machines generally use piezoelectric ceramic transducers. Piezoelectric ceramic transducers are made by sandwiching piezoelectric ceramics between two metal front and rear load blocks and tightly connected by screws. Usually, the output amplitude of the transducer is about 10 μm.

Welding head (HORN): The function of the welding head is to make a specific plastic part and meet the requirements of the shape and processing range of the plastic part.

The transducers, booster, and welding heads are all designed to be the half-wavelength of the ultrasonic frequency they work, so their size and shape must be specially designed. Any changes may lead to changes in frequency and processing effects. Professionally made. Dimensions vary depending on the material used. Materials suitable for ultrasonic transducers, horns and welding heads are: titanium alloy, aluminum alloy, alloy steel, etc. Since the ultrasonic wave vibrates continuously at a high frequency of about 20kHz, the requirements for the material are very high, which cannot be tolerated by ordinary materials.
